The Municipal chief Executive for the Builsa North Municipality Hon. Vida Akantagriwen Anaab on Tuesday January 10th 2023 visited some Schools in the Builsa North Municipality to mark the commencement of the new academic year.
The visit by the MCE was also to welcome and interact with fresh pupils entering basic schools and encourage them to help sustain their interest in school as part of the annual “My First Day at School program”.
This year’s event had three teams comprising of Officers of GES and that of the Municipal Assembly visiting the various circuits of the Municipality.
The Municipal chief Executive lead the team of Officers who visited schools under the Chuchuliga and Sandema East Circuits, the Municipal Cordinating Director Mr Godfred K Bamba Banornumah also led a team that visited Schools under Sandema central and Sandema West Circuits whiles the Municipal Education Director Mad Victoria Mahama Aganalie and her team took charge of the Wiaga and Kaadema Circuits.
At each school visited, the Assistant Director in Charge of Supervision Mr. Timothy Aperagoa and the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive seized the opportunity to address pupils on the importance of schooling. Children were also motivated to continue attending classes and not just ‘My First Day at school.
Addressing each school audience, the Municipal Chief Executive encouraged teachers and pupils to freely discharge their educational responsibilities adding that, the government and for that matter, the Assembly would continuously support schools and teachers with all necessary logistics to facilitate teaching and learning.
She said she was very happy with the attendance rate at all the Schools visited while pleading on caterers under the school feeding program to start cooking, she also dropped the hint that the Municipal Assembly will soon be distributing about 200 pieces of furniture to schools in the municipality to further enhance teaching and learning.
She encouraged the school children to take their studies seriously to enable them achieve their dreams. She also advised the school children to desist from speaking what she term corrupted Buli Such as “nyiam- tami” which literally means being held by water but rather say “ ny3- nyuela al3 ta mi” when thirsty.
Interacting with some learners, they shared some of their dreams to become nurses, doctors, police officers, presidents, drivers, teachers and bicycle fitters among others.
As a way to motivate the first-time attendants and pupils joining the mainstream school at Class one, the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive presented biscuits and Kalypo drinks to them.
