Presenting the items, the Chief Executive Officer of Visionary Buluk, Mr. Ernest Alaazy, expressed appreciation to the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the staff of Ayieta JHS for allowing the organization to use the school’s classrooms for its free extra classes programme for SHS 1 and 2 students, which began on March 16, 2026. He encouraged students to take their studies seriously, noting that both parents and organizations like Visionary Buluk are committed to supporting their academic success.

The Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Gariba Johnson, commended Visionary Buluk for organizing the free classes and for donating teaching and learning materials to the school. He urged other individuals and organizations to emulate the gesture, emphasizing that education is a shared responsibility.

The Assistant Headteacher of Ayieta JHS, Mr. Baba Salifu, also known as “Padeewa,” expressed gratitude to Visionary Buluk and assured that the items would be properly maintained and used effectively to enhance teaching and learning.

Mr. Alaazy later interacted with the Senior High School students currently benefiting from the free extra classes programme, assuring them of his continued support. He stated that the free extra classes and mentorship programme has come to stay; therefore, students within Sandema and its environs should be assured that they will always have teachers to guide them in their studies whenever they are on holidays. He urged the students to make good use of the classes and remain serious with their studies. He further revealed that Visionary Buluk is ready to assist students in gaining scholarships for further studies.

AGAMAL Organizes Pre-Season Stakeholders’ Review Meeting Ahead of IRS Campaign in Builsa Traditional Area

AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Malaria Control (AGAMAL) has announced that its annual Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) exercise in the Builsa traditional area will run from April 27 to July 10, 2026, under the theme “Small Action, Big Impact for Malaria Elimination.”

The announcement was made during a pre-season stakeholders’ engagement held at the Azenero Social Centre on Friday, April 24, 2026.

AGAMAL plans to cover 89 communities in Builsa North and 58 communities in Builsa South, targeting a total of 6,893 structures across the traditional area.

The Area Operations Manager, Mr. Gabriel Naab, explained that the insecticides to be used are odourless, stainless, and have an efficacy period of up to nine months. He noted that the chemicals are pre-qualified by the World Health Organization and are effective in reducing malaria vectors, thereby lowering malaria incidence.

Mr. Naab urged stakeholders to act as ambassadors of the programme by promoting it at every opportunity, encouraging community ownership, and viewing it as a social intervention rather than a profit-making venture. He also stressed the need to dissociate the programme from political affiliations and called for support during field challenges, adding that “IRS truly works and we are the only people who can tell the story.”

The Municipal Malaria Focal Person, Mr. Hagan Bomasaang, stated that since the inception of AGAMAL operations in the municipality, malaria incidence has significantly reduced. He called on stakeholders and community members to fully embrace the IRS programme, emphasizing that the fight against malaria is a collective responsibility.

The meeting brought together stakeholders from the Ghana Health Service, traditional authorities, security agencies, and other partners.

Team of Hope Attends to 213 Cases on Day Four of Surgical Outreach in Builsa North and South

The Team of Hope, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to providing surgical, medical, and social support to underserved communities, has attended to a total of 213 surgical cases as of 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, 20th November 2025. This achievement marks the fourth day of the organisation’s annual end-of-year surgical outreach, which began on 17th November and is expected to conclude on 21st November 2025 in both the Builsa North and Builsa South Districts of the Upper East Region.

The cases handled so far include hernias, hydroceles, fibroids, thyroidectomies, haemorrhoids, and various lumps, reflecting the broad scope of conditions being addressed by the team.

Speaking exclusively to Derick Amoabil Aneateba at the Fumbisi Hospital, the CEO of Team of Hope, Dr. Benjamin Adebasui Akinkang, disclosed that the Fumbisi team had attended to 92 cases. Checks at the Sandema Hospital indicated that the team operating there had handled 121 cases, bringing the total number of surgeries completed to 213.

Dr. Akinkang appealed for increased support from traditional authorities and duty bearers, stressing that the financial burden associated with the outreach has become overwhelming. He noted that many healthcare providers and specialists have expressed willingness to join subsequent outreach programmes, which would enable the team to tackle even more complex surgical cases—provided adequate resources are available.

He also raised concern about the high incidence of drug abuse among the youth in Buluk, describing the trend as alarming. Dr. Akinkang revealed that Team of Hope is considering embarking on a large-scale sensitisation campaign aimed at curbing substance abuse in the area.

Ghana Medical Help Donates Essential Medical Equipment to Sandema Hospital.

Ghana Medical Help, a Canada-based nonprofit organization with strong Ghanaian roots, has donated vital medical equipment to the Sandema Hospital in the Builsa North Municipality. The donation is part of the organization’s ongoing effort to strengthen healthcare delivery across the Upper East and Upper West Regions.

Leading the donation was Dr. Dominic Akaateba, Physician Specialist at the Wa Regional Hospital and Country Director of Ghana Medical Help. In his remarks, Dr. Akaateba recounted how the organization began its journey at Sandema Hospital in 2009, when he came on clinical attachment as a medical student. Witnessing the lack of basic medical tools at the time inspired the formation of Ghana Medical Help, which was officially incorporated in 2010.

“For the past 15 years, we’ve moved from donating equipment to supporting clinical engineers and training midwives under our Maternity Service Agenda. We now serve all district hospitals in the Upper East and Upper West Regions,” he stated.

The latest donation includes one obstetric delivery manikin with two neonates, 10 Kiwi vacuum delivery systems, three fetal Doppler machines, a multipurpose vital signs monitor, and 5,000 surgical face masks. The equipment, valued at several thousands of Ghana cedis, is aimed at enhancing maternal and child health services and emergency care at the facility.

Receiving the items on behalf of the hospital, Dr. Paul Edem, Clinical Coordinator at Sandema Hospital, expressed deep gratitude for the gesture. “This donation is quite significant. These devices, especially the Kiwi systems and the manikin, will go a long way to support our work in obstetrics. We assure you that they will be well-maintained and put to full use for the benefit of our patients,” he said.

Dr. Akaateba further urged healthcare workers and community members to support local facilities. “If we all contribute in our small ways, we’ll improve healthcare delivery for our people. Gone are the days when we waited for government to do everything,” he added.

Similar donations would also be made to the St. Lucas Hospital in Wiaga and the Fumbisi Hospital in Builsa South.

Builsa North Records Two Suspected Cases of Monkeypox

The Builsa North Municipal Health Directorate has recorded two suspected cases of monkeypox, now referred to as mpox, in the Chuchuliga subdistrict. This was disclosed by the Municipal Disease Control Officer, Mr. Thomas Akolaaga, during the second quarter review meeting of the Municipal Risk Communication Committee, held at the Health Directorate’s conference hall on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.

Mr. Akolaaga stated that both suspected mpox cases involve an adult and a child from the same subdistrict. He further revealed that, within the review period, the municipality also recorded two suspected cases of meningitis, one suspected measles case, one suspected case of yellow fever, two suspected cases of acute flaccid paralysis (AFP), and one fatal case of rabies. No cases of anthrax, cholera, or COVID-19 were reported.

On the national front, Mr. Akolaaga mentioned that as of June 7, 2025, Ghana had recorded 531 suspected mpox cases, out of which 71 were confirmed.

He used the opportunity to educate the public on mpox, noting that it is a viral zoonotic disease transmitted from animals to humans, and also from person to person through direct contact with body fluids, respiratory droplets, or contaminated materials. Common symptoms include fever, headache, muscle aches, swollen lymph nodes, and a distinctive rash that often starts on the face before spreading to other parts of the body.

Mr. Akolaaga advised residents to report suspected cases early, avoid contact with persons showing symptoms, and maintain good personal hygiene.

He also cautioned the public to be on high alert for cholera and other faeco-oral diseases, especially as the rainy season begins. He explained that cholera is an acute diarrheal illness caused by ingestion of food or water contaminated with the Vibrio cholerae bacterium. Symptoms include profuse watery diarrhea, vomiting, and dehydration, which can lead to death if untreated. He encouraged the public to drink clean water, wash hands regularly with soap, and practice proper food hygiene to prevent outbreaks.

Mr. Akolaaga urged all stakeholders to intensify community education and remain vigilant to protect the municipality from possible disease outbreaks.

Team of Hope Ends Mid-year Surgical Mission in Builsa, Appeals for Community Support.

Team of Hope, a non-profit organization operating in the Upper East Region, has successfully concluded its mid-year surgical outreach in the Builsa Traditional Area.

The three-day exercise, which took place from June 2 to June 4, 2025, saw 100 surgical cases handled at the Sandema Hospital and the Fumbisi Hospital. Conditions treated included hernia, hydroceles, hemorrhoids, and goitre, among others.

Speaking in a live interview, the CEO of Team of Hope, Dr. Benjamin Akinkang, described the outreach as a success and called for increased community support to sustain and expand future missions.

The organization conducts two major surgical outreaches annually—in June and November—as part of its commitment to improving access to essential healthcare in underserved communities.

Over the years, Team of Hope has carried out successful missions at the Sandema Hospital, Fumbisi Hospital, and Paga Hospital, all in the Upper East Region.

Dr. Akinkang emphasized the importance of local collaboration, urging traditional authorities, individuals, and development partners to support the initiative through funding, logistics, and mobilization to reach more people in need.

Thomas Kofi Alonsi Donates Medical Supplies to Sandema and St. Lucas Hospitals in Builsa North

Mr. Thomas Kofi Alonsi, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Builsa North and Director-General of the Ghana Maritime Authority, has made a significant donation of medical consumables to two major healthcare facilities in the Builsa North Municipality. The recipient hospitals, Sandema Hospital in Sandema and St. Lucas Hospital in Wiaga, are key referral centers that serve a large number of patients from across the municipality.

Despite his loss in the recent parliamentary elections to Mr. James Agalga, Mr. Alonsi expressed gratitude to the people of Builsa North for their support during the campaign. He acknowledged that in every competition, there are wins and losses, but he remains optimistic, stating that "God's time is the best."

Mr. Alonsi emphasized the importance of supporting local health institutions, noting that both Sandema and St. Lucas Hospitals are critical to the health and well-being of many in the region. However, he also called for further support, especially in terms of infrastructure, to enhance the hospital's capacity to deliver quality healthcare.

At St. Lucas Hospital in Wiaga, the hospital's accountant, Mr. Konlan Samuel, also expressed gratitude for the donation, noting that the facility had previously requested medical supplies, some of which had not been fulfilled. He acknowledged that although Mr. Alonsi did not win the election, his ongoing commitment to supporting the people of Builsa North is a testament to his dedication to the community.

Both hospitals are hopeful that more stakeholders and philanthropists will step forward to support their efforts, as the need for medical supplies and infrastructure development remains critical.

Kaadema-Zaring Women Pledge Support for Hon. Thomas Kofi Alonsi in Upcoming Elections.

The women of Kaadema -Zaring, a community in the Builsa North Municipality of the Upper East Region, have pledged their unwavering support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate, Hon. Thomas Kofi Alonsi, in the upcoming December elections. The women made this commitment on Thursday, 7th November 2024, during a meeting where they emphasized the importance of leadership that is responsive to the needs of the constituency.

In a heartfelt message, the women of Kaadema- zaring expressed their desire to shift focus to Hon. Alonsi after their "other son," Hon. James Agalga, has served 12 years in Parliament. The women likened their support to a mother's love, saying that just as a mother gives equal love to all her children, it is time to turn their attention to Hon. Alonsi, who has long expressed his desire to serve the constituency.

"We have given our other son, Hon. Agalga, 12 years in Parliament. Now, it is time to show love and support to our other son, Hon. During his 2nd-day on tour of the Kadema community in the Builsa North Municipality on 7th November, 2024, Mr. Alonsi appealed to the electorate to vote for a candidate who is deeply committed to the empowerment of the youth and women in the Constituency, as well as to the overall development of the constituency.

As the Director-General of the Ghana Maritime Authority, Mr. Alonsi has demonstrated his commitment to creating opportunities for the youth in the constituency. Through his leadership, over 50 young people from Builsa North have secured employment at the Ghana Maritime Authority, with many others also placed in the security and other services.

Developmental Projects Under Mr. Alonsi’s Leadership

One of the notable initiatives includes the construction and furnishing of a six-unit classroom block, teachers' offices, a library, and a computer laboratory for the Wablinsa community. The submission took place at the Builsa North Municipal Electoral Commission office.

Accompanied by key figures including the Builsa North NPP constituency executives and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Builsa North, Madam Vida Akantagriwen Anaab, Alonsi's filing marks a significant step in his campaign. His candidacy reflects a continued effort by the NPP to strengthen its presence and influence in the Builsa North constituency.

Addressing party supporters after presenting his papers to the electoral commission, Mr. Alonsi expressed his commitment to addressing the pressing issues facing the community and promised to work diligently to represent the interests of his constituents if elected. Youth of Abilyeri, Awusi-yeri, Achog-yeri, Suwarinsa, and Kori Kickstart Self-Initiated Bridge Construction to Connect Communities to Sandema.

In a remarkable display of community spirit and initiative, the youth of Abilyeri, Awusi-yeri,Achog-yeri Suwarinsa, and Kori have commenced the construction of two self-initiated bridges over the Nan-seuing and Nan-gaang rivers located infront and behind Avade-yeri in Abilyeri Sandema. This project aims to link these communities with the district capital, Sandema, enhancing access to vital services and economic activities.

The construction, which began today, was necessitated by the recurrent isolation of these communities during the rainy season, which hampers access to healthcare, commerce, and other essential activities in Sandema. Prior to the project's commencement, the communities levied themselves and organized a community durbar, where stakeholders made significant contributions.

Among the notable contributors were Hon. James Agalga, Member of Parliament for Builsa North, who donated 100 bags of cement, and Mr. Thomas Kofi Alonsi, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Maritime Authority and NPP's parliamentary candidate for Builsa North, who also donated 100 bags of cement. Alhaji Salifu Awal Faisal contributed 20 bags of cement, with several other individuals, groups, and organizations making substantial donations to support the construction efforts.

The Chief of Abilyeri, Nab. Achim Abiong and the Chairman of the Youth committee of the five Communities in an interaction with the media called upon the members of the five (5) communities to volunteer in large numbers to aid the bridge construction. They are also appealing to people who are yet to fulfill their pledges to do so and for additional support, particularly bulldozer services, to assist in excavating and uprooting trees along the riverbanks, thereby facilitating the construction process.

This self-initiated project stands as a testament to the power of community collaboration and the collective determination to overcome infrastructural challenges. As work progresses, the youth remain hopeful that more individuals and organizations will step forward to support this vital initiative, which promises to significantly improve the quality of life for the residents of Abilyeri, Awusu-yeri, Achog-yeri, Suwarinsa, and Kori.

GRNMA Builsa North Elects New Executives.

The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) in the Builsa North Municipality has successfully elected new executives to lead the association for the next four years. 

The elections, held on May 23, 2024, at the Sandema Hospital conference hall, concluded with Mr. Ashiley Nii Ayitey being elected as the Municipal Chairperson, securing 34 votes against his contender, Mr. Ali Joshua, who garnered 32 votes.

Mr. Derrick Abakisi, the immediate past Municipal PRO, was elected unopposed as the Municipal Vice Chairperson. Madam Janet Jantuate became the Municipal Secretary with 45 votes, defeating Mr. Gyeru Abraham Kweku, the immediate past Assistant Secretary, who received 21 votes. The position of Municipal Treasurer went to Mr. Adiali Prince Charles, who obtained 48 votes, while his opponent, Mr. Kingsley Bonsu, the immediate past Deputy PRO, received 17 votes. 

Mr. Akunyam Adem Daniel was elected unopposed as the new Municipal PRO.

Hajia Marria Fuseini, the Deputy Director of Nursing Services at Sandema Hospital and Chairperson of the elections, commended both contestants and delegates for conducting smooth and clean elections. She urged the new executives to collaborate with their predecessors and opponents to address the needs and aspirations of nurses in the municipality.

 Hajia Fuseini also emphasized the importance of annual PIN renewals and encouraged nurses to educate the public on the different roles within health facilities to prevent the misattribution of blame to nurses.

Mr. Bisianin Kombian, the Regional Vice Chairperson of the association, advised the new leaders to work diligently to prevent nurses from leaving for other associations that offer superficial benefits. GRNMA Builsa North Elects New Executives.

The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) in the Builsa North Municipality has successfully elected new executives to lead the association for the next four years. The elections, held on May 23, 2024, at the Sandema Hospital conference hall, concluded with Mr. Nii Ashley Ashitey being elected as the Municipal Chairperson, securing 34 votes against his contender, Mr. Ali Joshua, who garnered 32 votes.

Mr. Derrick Abakisi, the immediate past Municipal PRO, was elected unopposed as the Municipal Vice Chairperson. Madam Janet Jantuate became the Municipal Secretary with 45 votes, defeating Mr. Gyeru Abraham Kweku, the immediate past Assistant Secretary, who received 21 votes. The position of Municipal Treasurer went to Mr. Adiali Prince Charles, who obtained 48 votes, while his opponent, Mr. Kingsley Bonsu, the immediate past Deputy PRO, received 17 votes. Mr. Akunyam Adem Daniel was elected unopposed as the new Municipal PRO.

Hajia Marria Fuseini, the Deputy Director of Nursing Services at Sandema Hospital and Chairperson of the elections, commended both contestants and delegates for conducting smooth and clean elections. She urged the new executives to collaborate with their predecessors and opponents to address the needs and aspirations of nurses in the municipality. Hajia Fuseini also emphasized the importance of annual PIN renewals and encouraged nurses to educate the public on the different roles within health facilities to prevent the misattribution of blame to nurses.

Mr. Bisianin Kombian, the Regional Vice Chairperson of the association, advised the new leaders to work diligently to prevent nurses from leaving for other associations that offer superficial benefits. "Work Together to Unseat Clement Apaak in 2024" – James Abakisi Calls for Unity Post NPP Primaries in Builsa South.

In the aftermath of the recently concluded NPP primaries in Builsa South Constituency of the Upper East Region, the National Elections Representative of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Builsa South Constituency, Mr. James Maurice Abakisi has issued a resounding call for unity among party members. The message, aimed at fostering cohesion and collaboration, comes as the party gears up to face the broader challenge of unseating the incumbent MP, Clement Apaak, in the 2024 general elections.

MTN Ghana holds media and stakeholders forum in Bolgatanga

Telecommunication company, MTN Ghana as part of its effort to deepen understanding of its key stakeholders in their operations has held its Media and Stakeholders Forum at the Akayet Hotel in Bolgatanga, the upper east regional capital.

The annual programme aims at bringing journalists, editors and other relevant stakeholders to share ideas and foster collaboration between the company and the media. This year’s event was under the theme ‘Leveraging Technology to Serve Customers with Excellence.’

Addressing participants at the event, Mrs. Adwoa Wiafe, the Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer at MTN Ghana, provided updates on MTN’s overall strategy, the company’s network initiatives and plans to give customers more control and the company’s commitment to extending its services to all parts of the country, including the hinterlands in spite of its operational challenges.

She said, the company is investing $1 billion by 2025 to improve its services and provide social amenities to communities across the country. “We have the ambition to be the leading digital solutions provider for Africa’s progress. We are focused on Africa and have identified the continent’s needs. We are building our business to address future problems. 

We are also expanding our connectivity operations, meaning we are expanding our network. Currently, we have invested $600 million in our network in Ghana. As we grow, we aim to positively impact our communities. 

Our foundation is involved in community projects, sponsoring students in universities, and supporting other institutions. We collaborate with communities to provide relevant skills and opportunities for our stakeholders.”

As part of its rural telephony initiative and in collaboration with government entities, MTN Ghana plans to extend its services to 374 sites.

Participants were drawn from various government and non-governmental organisations, including the Roads and Highways Authority, Ghana Journalists Association, National Communications Authority, representatives from local government, Upper East Regional Coordinating Council, the media, among others.

International Women Hope Centre Screen 84 Women's in Builsa North for Breast Cancer.

International Women’s Hope Centre (IWHC), a non-governmental organisation which seeks to reduce the increasing cases of teenage pregnancy in the Upper East Region and to support teenage mothers to achieve economic wellbeing and quality of life has on the 18th of October, 2023 organised a breast cancer screening exercise at the Reproductive and Child Welfare Clinic (RCH) of the Sandema hospital.

The screening exercise is in commemoration of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Mad. Cecillia Afoblikame a retired Midwife and a Senior Volunteer of the NGO, explained that the exercise was planned in order to educate women about breast cancer.

 Furthermore, the exercise is hoped  to teach the women how to conduct self-examination on themselves to find lumps that might be a sign of cancer.

“As you know, we are in breast cancer awareness month. The organisation therefore is organising this exercise, to first of all, create awareness of the disease and also help these women learn how to perform self-examination on themselves. You know, if they feel a lump in their breast, this could be a sign and they will need to visit an expert for interpretation.”

The organisation in collaboration with Nurses  and Midwives from the Sandema  hospital examined a total  of Eighty-four  (84) women of which five (5) of the women had lumps in their breast,  two(2)  had sore nipples and have been referred to a specialist for further examination and treatment. 

Madam Afoblikame thanked the President of IWHC, Madam Gladys Adochim, their partners HeartBeat International and Relationship Under Construction (RUC) for their continuous support to women and children in the upper east region. 

The beneficiary women expressed gratitude to the International Women  Hope Centre for the free breast screening.

The NGO has since last year, screened over 2000 women of breast cancer.

International Women’s Hope Center (IWHC) is an organization that has provided care and education to women, particularly those experiencing unplanned pregnancies. 

This care is provided through medical education and support services in the Upper East Region of Ghana where the rate of teenage pregnancy is the highest in the country. 

IWHC seeks to be a beacon of hope for young women and teenage girls facing unexpected pregnancies. 

The IWHC organization is also a mentorship program designed to help develop these same women into grace-filled, self-respecting members of the society with an emphasis on sexual integrity. 

It extends it's tentacles to rural areas by catering for some of the basic needs of these women by donating items such as baby clothes, maternity clothes, personal care items, food, and offering career training to women.

Temis Foundation formarlly Announces it's Existance In The Builsa North Municipality.

Temis Foundation a non-governmental Organization which seeks to provide hope for the vulnurable and the marginalised in society, has officially registered its presence in the Builsa North Municipality of the Upper East Region with massive social interventions that have already been carried out in the Municipality.

Accessing potable water is a major concern for residents of many rural and remote communities in the Upper East Region.

Many women and children on daily basis are compelled to trek long distances in search of water, mostly from streams, rivers, ponds and other open water sources for their daily and economic activities.

To address this age-old problem in the Builsa North Municipality, Temis Foundation a non-governmental organisation (NGO), has intervened to drill a borehole each for 5 communities in the Builsa North Municipality of the Upper East Region.

Speaking at a short meeting with the leadership of the Builsa North Municipal Assembly at the MCE's office on Monday October 2 2023 to formally inform the Assembly of the NGO's existence in the municipality, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the NGO, Madam Ruth Awentemi Afoko, said the NGO'S vision was to provide safe drinking water to residents living in rural communities.

She explained that water was a basic necessity of life and that there was the need for it to be provided to especially rural dwellers to enable them live quality lives.

Madam Afoko added that out of the five boreholes, only Suwarinsa borehole that is 70% complete and will soon be fully completed and handed over to the community for use.

The remaining four (4) according to her, the NGO is in talk with the beneficiary community members on the need to have a Bank account in the name of borehole with at least thousand five hundred,(Ghc1,500 ) before the projects will kick start in November 2023.

She noted that in the coming weeks she and her team will be donating furniture to Chuchuliga Junior High School (JHS) and donate to one orphanage home located in Suwarinsa.

She pleaded with the Assembly to corporate with her team to enable them work effectively in the municipality.

The beneficiary communities are: Suwarinsa 1, Kadema 1, Balansa 1 and 2 and Siniesi.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon. Vida Anaab in her speech lauded the NGO for the water project, saying when completed it will be a big relief to the beneficiary communities.

The MCE added that the Assembly doors are open for development partners such as Temis Foundation and are ever ready to support the NGO to achieve it intended purpose in the municipality.

She pleaded with the NGO to keep on updating the Assembly on their activities in the communities so that the Assembly will add their activities in the municipality into their annual reports.

Director General of Ghana Maritime Authority, Mr. Thomas Kofi Alonsi Endorsed PC of NPP in Builsa North

The New Patriotic Party NPP parliamentary candidate for the Builsa north constituency said, his decision to contest the parliamentary seat is to ensure the people get their fair share of the national cake through proper representation in Ghana’s parliament. The people need someone who is passionate about the development and their general wellbeing.

Mr. Thomas Kofi Alonsi made these remarks during an interaction with Noiyeng Radio News on the sidelines of his acclamation at the Sandema Technical Institute in Sandema on Sunday September 10th 2023.

The delegates of NPP in the Builsa north constituency approved the candidature of the Director General of the Ghana Maritime Authority, Mr. Thomas Kofi Alonsi as the parliamentary candidate for the 2024 general elections.

Former Member of Parliament for Bulsa north and deputy regional minister for upper east made a passionate appeal especially to members of the New Patriotic Party to close their ranks and work hard for Alonsi to snatch the seat from the incumbent NDC Member of Parliament.

The filling of his nomination forms, saw thousands of people, polling station and Constituency executives of the party, Elders, DCE for Builsa South and Dean of DCE'S of the Upper East Region Mr. Daniel Kwame Gariba Anganta who has also filed to contest the seat in the Builsa South Constituency, MCE for Builsa North, Madam Vida Akantagriwon Anaab, Former Mp and former deputy Upper East Regional Minister and former Regional chairperson of the party Madam Agnes Chigabatia Asangalisa as well as party faithfuls amidst drumming and dancing leading Mr.Alonsi through the principal streets of Sandema the Municipal capital to the party office in Sandema for him to submit his nomination forms.

Addressing a charged crowd gathered at the durbar grounds in Sandema who were chanting "We need to change, 12years of no show the time is now or never!", Mr.Alonsi said, he is contesting to be the member of parliament for the constituency in order to bring about change in terms of job opportunities for the teaming youth, development and empowerment for the good people of the Builsa North Constituency.

He added that, he will be an MP for all Builsa's regardless of their political affiliations " I am not going to be an Npp or NDC Mp, I am going to be an Mp for all devoid of political coloration" he therefore urge polling station, constituency executives and all electoral area coordinators to sell his message of change to the good people of the Builsa North Constituency for them to give him the nod to represent them in parliament come 2024.

He used the opportunity to ask for forgiveness from all those he has wronged in anyway and also stated that he has forgiven all those who have wronged him in anyway, saying he is ready to work with anyone to campaign for him to become the MP to change the story of Buluk.

Mr. Alonsi is so far the only candidate who has picked up a form and filed seeking to lead the Npp in the Builsa North Constituency as the party prepares it self for the 2024 general elections.
