The Upper East Regional Minister, Hon Stephen Yakubu says education is a critical tool to transform the lives of young people in the Region.
He said education was the backbone and strength of northerners, noting that most influential personalities in the Region made it through education.
Hon. Yakubu was addressing this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in the region at the Bolgatanga Technical Institute Examination Centre.
He urged the candidates to remain calm and write the examination with high hopes to succeed, “Just keep calm when you collect your question paper, pray to God to help you and the favour of God will be yours,” he advised.
The Regional Minister told the candidates that they had no excuse not to pass, as they had available facilities to enable them perform and move on to the next level.
Hon. Yakubu was accompanied by the Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Rex Asanga, the Regional Police Commander, the Municipal Director of Education and other stakeholders in education.
A total of 19,999 candidates made up of 9,999 males and 10,000 females are sitting for this year's BECE across the region.
