COVID-19: Northern Region confirms 3 new cases
The Northern Regional Health Director has disclosed that the region has recorded three new cases of the novel coronavirus.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the region to 16.
Two of the new cases, according to Dr. John Bertson Aleeza are cases from Wulensi while the third case is from Tolon.
The confirmed case from Tolon is a head-porter (kayaye) who escaped the lockdown in Accra and Kumasi and came back home while the two cases from Wulensi are contacts of cases in the Oti region.
The Regional Health Director disclosed this today to journalists in Tamale at short ceremony to hand over some hand-washing equipment to the Tamale Teaching Hospital by the ADB Bank.
Dr Eleeza said the three new cases where part of the first COVID-19 samples to be tested at the Public Health Laboratory in Tamale.
In all, over 300 samples were tested as part of government's efforts to expand the country's Covid-19 testing capacity.
