Free Water Extended To December 31

Government's covid-19 free water to all Ghanaians has been extended for another three months.

The extension takes effect from October 1 and ends on December 31.

Landlords and tanker service providers are warned against charging or selling the free water to Ghanaians within the period.

Thiswas contained in a statement signed by the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resource Cecilia Abena-Dapaah today.

The statement noted that the extension is to enable Ghanaians continue with the protocols especially regular hand washing under running water to help combat covid-19 entirely.

2020 BECE: Tangoba Abayage wishes candidates well, advises against exam malpractices

TANGOBA ABAYAGE-UPPER EAST REGIONAL MINSITER

The Upper East Regional Minister, Ms. Tangoba Abayage has cautioned candidates of the ongoing Basic Certificate Examination, BECE against all forms of examination malpractice.

The Minister who visited the Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School, Bolgatanga Technical Institute and Zamse Senior High Technical School all in the Bolgatanga Municipalitiy encouraged the Students to ensure they invest their energies into passing the exam, adding that the exams serves as a platform to guarantee a better future for them.

The Minister in the Company of the Regional Director of Education, Edward Azure and the Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive, Joseph Amiyuure admonished the students not to panic considering the circumstances under which they had to prepare for the examination.

“Most of us here unlike our colleagues in the big cities did not have access to the internet for learning when schools were closed down but we’re writing the same exam, am I right? That is why I am here to encourage you that put in your best. Let them know that even though you didn’t have access to the internet, you had your books and you committed yourselves to reading the books that you had. The little time you had and you went to school, you studied and you make sure that you’re going to pass”.

The minister further indicated that, one’s career path rests largely on the ongoing exams as she urges them to do the right thing by not engaging in exam malpractice.

“Your future depends on today. Whoever you will want to become tomorrow depends on today. If you pass, you go to SHS, if you pass, you go to university, if you want go into the technical area or engage in a special trade, it all depends on today so if you fail, you’re determining not a very good future for yourself. I know It has been very challenging, it has been very difficult for you but I am requesting that when you enter the exam room, follow the instructions the Regional Director of Education has given you. Do the right thing. Don’t do anything that will let any invigilator sack you from the classroom. Read your exam questions well, take your time and answer as many questions as you can but don’t panic, it is just an exam,” She told the cheering candidates.

The 2020 edition of the Basic Education Certificate examination started today, Monday, September 14 and will end on Friday, September 18 at all designated Examination Centres throughout the country.

In the Upper East Region, a total of 22,532 candidates made up of 10,757 males and 11,775 females are expected to sit for the exams in 90 centers.

Meanwhile, a total of 531,705 candidates are expected to sit for this year’s BECE in some 2,007 examination centres across the country with 269,419 of the candidates being males while 262,286 are females.

Builsa North NPP Inaugurates Campaign Team

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Builsa North District of the Upper East Region has inaugurated its campaign team members at the Azenero Social Centre in Sandema on Friday 4th September, 2020 with the conviction of winning the Parliamentary seat in the constituency for the party in the December 7, polls.

Mr Issah Sanusi the Upper East Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) took the opportunity as a member of the inauguration team to highlight the Party’s victory in the upcoming  2020 elections saying it would be meaningless unless the party is able to capture the  Builsa North Parliamentary seat.

He said the party should dwell on what the Npp has been able to do within the four years and its impact on ordinary Ghanaians saying policies like the free Senior High School has come as a relief to parents whose children are in the Senior High school level as they no longer sell their cattle or piece of land to enable their children have formal education. 

He added  that, policies like NABCO, Youth in afforestation and many others are impacting positively on the lives of the ordinary Ghanaian.

Madam. Agnes Chigabatia Asangalisa, a former MP and deputy Regional  Minister of the erstwhile  Kufour’s regime and a former Regional Chairperson of the Party present at the inauguration, took the opportunity as a member of the newly inaugurated Constituency campaign team to advice members, Electoral Area Coordinators and Polling stations executives.

She charged them to diligently work hard in order to win the seat for the Party and also ensure victory 2020 for His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo- Addo, President of Ghana.

Her indication was because the party has not been able to win the seat since it lost to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) 12 years ago.

Mad. Chigabatia urged the Constituency Executives and polling agents to work hard to ensure what she described as a double victory for the Party in the December polls.

She called for unity among the executives to play a pivotal role in campaigning massively for the Parliamentary candidate Mr James Maurice  Abakisi to be the Member of Parliament for the Builsa  North constituency.

The inaugurated executives pledged their allegiance to the party and promised to work indefatigably to win the seat for the parliamentary candidate.

Mr James  Maurice Abakisi expressed gratitude to all patriotic members of the party and promised to deliver his best when given the mandate to be the Member of Parliament for the Builsa North Constituency saying “ we are coming to work for the people of the Builsa North constituency to feel the difference between the Npp and the NDC.

He said his excellency the president of the Republic Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has so much love for the Builsa North constituency hence the many developmental projects currently ongoing in the constituency.

He urged all party enthusiasts to close their ranks in order to wrestle the seat from the NDC and also ensure victory for the president in the coming elections. 

Mr. Awonimare Isaac Hussein who contested to represent  the party in the constituency but lost to Mr. James Maurice Abakisi thanked the party for selecting him to be a member of the campaign team and pledged to work assiduously to ensure Mr James Maurice Abakisi is elected the member of parliament for  the Builsa North constituency and the president also retained. 

He presented 300 hand sanitizers with posters of James Maurice Abakisi inscriptions on them to the party.
